The cyclone also affected operations at the Chennai airport as parts of the runway were inundated due to waterlogging. However, the landing strip has been declared operational from 9 am today. The airport authority said in a statement that the rain had stopped and the water level had receded. However, there is a lot of dirt and debris on the runway and taxiway, which is being cleared by four Civil Fire Teams (CFTs) and additional manpower.
