Chase and Browning threatened Jacksonville’s defense as the Bengals snapped a 14-game road losing streak in prime-time games, the longest in NFL history, according to ESPN Stats & Data.
After the game, Bengals coach Jack Taylor said Browning “set the world on fire” and that the performance could have a significant impact in the locker room.
“We see the intangibles and his preparation,” Taylor said. “But when he goes out there and leads the team like he does, I definitely think it boosts the team’s confidence level.”
With five games remaining in the regular season, Cincinnati’s win gives the team an outside shot at reaching the playoffs for the third straight season. Cincinnati’s remaining four opponents’ top quarterbacks are injured.
Cincinnati was aware of the impact of Browning’s big night and a road victory was in its playoff sights.
“We’re putting ourselves one step closer to getting our foot in the door,” Chase said. “And once we get in the door, we should kick it down.”
