KARACHI: Pakistan middle-order batsman Saud Shakeel on Sunday revealed that he feels he should have converted his half-century into a century. Test series against England.

“We will try to forget what happened to us in the series against England and shift our focus to the series against New Zealand. It’s a new series, new day and new start and we’re keen to do well,” he said.
“After the defeat against England we sat down and discussed where we were lacking; We will try to overcome those mistakes and try to do better against New Zealand,” he said.
When asked in what areas he felt the team was lacking, he spoke about his performance and said he regretted missing the opportunity to score big despite scoring four half-centuries in his first Test series.
“I regret missing those opportunities, I should have converted at least two fifties into centuries and if I had done that, I believe the result would have been different for Pakistan,” he said.
As a player, Shakil said his aim is to win Test matches for Pakistan. “I would have been more satisfied if my performance had helped Pakistan win that Test match,” he said.
“Losing wickets is always disappointing but yes, Multan’s elimination was more disappointing because we were a few runs away at that time. If I had added 20 more runs, Pakistan would have put England under pressure,” he said.
The young cricketer said that he will learn from his mistakes and perform better in the upcoming series against New Zealand.
“It’s the start of my career and it’s very important for me to learn from my mistakes and do better than my previous performance,” he said.
“Karachi is my home ground and I love playing here; I will try to score my maiden Test century against New Zealand,” he aimed.
