In 2017, Sherin Shahana TK fell from the balcony of her house and was bedridden for one and a half years after the accident.
Despite all the odds, he was determined to pursue his childhood dream of a career in the civil service.
In an interview, Shahana expressed the need to accept herself and her situation, admitting that her current life has a greater significance. While confined to bed and later, in a wheelchair, she found solace in her single dream of clearing the UPSC exam and her world was limited to her mother.
Shahana’s mother, Anima, had limited formal education, studying up to Class 4, and her late father, Usman, never had the opportunity to attend school. His father died in 2015. Financial difficulties forced her two elder sisters to stop their studies after 10th standard. However, their elder sister, Jalisha, continued her studies despite all the odds and is now a research scholar in mathematics.
Shahana, on the other hand, received her primary education at a local government school before pursuing her higher studies at a college in Sultan Bathery, Wayanad. He successfully completed his Master’s degree in Political Science. Unfortunately, the accident left her quadriplegic in 2017, but she found solace in the support of her friends and well-wishers.
