LinkedIn has been flooded with heartbreaking posts from long-time employees talking about the indifference and derision of these companies despite years of being loyal employees. A former Microsoft employee wrote in a LinkedIn post about how being fired after 21 years of dedicated service to the company hurt so much.
Delving deeper into the issue, a LinkedIn user named Abhishek Ganti questioned the purpose of loyalty if organizations are not respected. He cited the recent mass firings of longtime employees at Microsoft and Google as examples in the post.

“A man spent 21 years at #Microsoft and got fired. And another spent 16 years at #google and faced a similar fate. Their access to the system was terminated and they were notified of their layoff via email,” Ganti wrote in a LinkedIn post.
He also told all HRs in the post that they “don’t grill candidates on frequent switches and loyalty. And rhetorically asked when organizations don’t value loyalty, why should employees be loyal.”
His LinkedIn post has so far received over 29,000 responses, over 400 comments and 494 reposts.
Netizens are blaming the top administration for this
A LinkedIn user Radha Gupta commented that you were indeed right but HRs are also bound to follow instructions as they are one of us, so the real problem was with the company hierarchy and top level management. He added that they only used the ground level to their advantage, and no doubt that was practically it, and if it was unfair, it was.
Another LinkedIn user Shravan G. Kumar comments that the corporate world is designed on only one thing ‘necessity’. He added that it doesn’t matter how many years (an employee) has worked for a company, if a resource doesn’t work, companies will show them the exit door. He justified himself by saying that he was not trying to insult or support anyone. “My question is whether those 21 years in Microsoft resources or 16 years in Google resources are working at least up to the required standards.. if not then there is nothing to discuss but if yes, then it’s a balderdash by the companies.”
