Attorneys for disgraced FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried asked the judge in his fraud case to keep the names of two co-signers on his $250 million bond secret because of real threats he says his family received.
Bankman-Fried’s lawyer said there was a “security incident” at her parents’ home that led to the former FTX CEO being released under house arrest.
In a letter to Judge Lewis Kaplan opposing requests from nearly a dozen media organizations to reveal the identities of the co-signers, Bankman-Fried’s lawyers described the incident.
“Recently, the Bankman-Frieds had a security incident at their home when a black car drove into a metal barricade placed outside their home. Three men got out of the car. When the security guard on duty confronted them, the men said something like: “You can’t keep us out.” Before the security guards were able to see the license plate, the men got back into the car and sped away,” they wrote.
Bankmann-Fried’s parents – Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried — both are law professors at Stanford University. a judge release Bankman-Fried is on a $250 million bond and must wear an electronic monitoring bracelet and remain under house arrest at her parents’ home in Palo Alto, California.
