An arrest warrant has been issued for the murder of Brian Walshe in his death on Tuesday Wife Anna WalsheA Massachusetts mother who has been missing since New Year, announced Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey.
Walshe, 47, Not guilty last week for misleading investigators about his actions when his wife disappeared. He is being held at the Norfolk County House of Correction and will be taken to Quincy District Court for arraignment on the manslaughter charge Wednesday, Morrissey said.
“Additional details in the investigation and evidence in support of these allegations may be presented during testimony but will not be disclosed at this time,” the prosecutor said.
An attorney for Brian Walsh declined to comment.
The arrest warrant comes more than two weeks after Anna Walsh disappeared from her workplace, prompting investigators to launch an operation. Extensive search for his whereabouts.
Police found potentially fatal evidence: blood and a bloody knife in the basement of the family’s Cohasset home, according to prosecutors; Brian Walsh’s Internet records show searches for how to dismember and dispose of a body, according to law enforcement sources; and a hack and apparent bloodstains at the garbage collection site, law enforcement sources said.
According to police, he told investigators he last saw his wife in the early hours of Jan. 1 when he took a rideshare or taxi from their Cohasset home to the airport and to catch a flight to his real estate job in Washington, DC. She said she worked for her mother in nearby Swampscott later in the day and went out for ice cream with one of her children the next day.
However, prosecutors said there was no evidence Anna Walsh hailed a ride or arrived at the airport, and in a criminal affidavit police said there was no evidence she ran errands for her mother on New Year’s Day. Prosecutors discovered surveillance video showing Brian Walshe purchasing $450 in cleaning supplies, including mops, a bucket and tarps, at a Home Depot on Jan. 2 with cash.
As described in the affidavit Statement by Brian Walsh as a “clear attempt to confuse and delay the investigators” by the police. Prosecutor Lynn Belland told the court last week that her statement “gave him time to clean up the evidence (or) dispose of the evidence.”
Her employer, Tishman Speer, reported her missing on Jan. 4 after she failed to show up for work. According to Tracy Miner, Brian Walsh’s defense attorney, he called his workplace to ask if they knew of his whereabouts before calling the workplace police. Miner also said his client has been “incredibly cooperative.”
The killing warrant follows a string of tumultuous legal problems for Brian Walsh.
In 2021, he pleaded guilty to three federal fraud charges related to a 2018 scheme to sell fake Andy Warhol artworks online. He has since been under house arrest and observation as part of pre-sentence conditions.
Also in 2018, his father Dr. Thomas Walshe died, leading to a long legal battle over his estate. In court documents, those close to the family have accused Brian Walshe of financial misconduct, describing him as an angry and violent man and saying he was caught up in a sociopath.
“He felt very bad for his son,” the estate’s executor Andrew Walsh said of Dr. Walsh’s relationship with Brian. “Brian absconded with a significant amount of his money; he had almost zero contact with Brian R. Walsh over the past ten years.”
more, Anna Walshe told police in 2014 that someone had made threats “to kill (him) and his friend,” according to an incident report obtained by CNN from the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department. A spokesperson for the department confirmed that Brian Walshe is the person involved in the report.
The report was filed by Anna Walsh – then Anna Nipp – when she lived in DC. The case was later dropped because the victim refused to cooperate with the prosecution, the spokesman said.
The couple’s three children, ages 2 to 6, are in the custody of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families, a spokeswoman said.
