‘John Wick: Chapter 4,’ which is the fourth installment of ‘John Wick‘ Franchise and directing again Chad Stahelskyopens the theater March 24th.
What is the plot of ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’?
‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum,’ shortly after the events of John Wick (Keanu Reeves) has recovered from his injuries and wants to kill the leader of the High Table, while Winston Scott (Ian McShane) must face the consequences of his actions. The new leader of the High Table, the Marquis Vincent de Gramont ((Bill Skarsgård)Wants Wick dead and hires hundreds of assassins to kill him, including a tracker named Mr. Nobody (Shamier Anderson), and Cain (Donnie Yen), a blind assassin who is an old friend of Wick’s.
With the help of another old friend Shimazu Koji (Hiroyuki Sanada), manager of the Osaka Continental Hotel, as well as Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne), Wick agrees to Winston’s dangerous plan to gain his freedom, which involves Wick rejoining Ruska Roma, killing German High Table member Killa (Scott Adkins), and challenging the Marquis Vincent de Gramont to a duel to the death. But first John Wick must survive until sunrise if he wants a chance to get his life back.

Moviephone I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Bill Skarsgård about his work on ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’, how he was a fan before joining the franchise, creating his villainous character and working with Keanu Reeves.

Moviephone: First of all, were you a fan of the ‘John Wick’ movies before joining the franchise?
Bill Skarsgård: Yes, I was a fan of the franchise. I watched at least the first two films, maybe all three of them before I was approached for fun. It’s special in that way, when you’re so familiar with the world as a fan, and then suddenly you’re on set playing opposite John Wick. It is very surprising.

MF: Your character has a very specific look. The way he moves, talks and dresses is very specific. Can you talk about your approach to character creation?
BS: I mean, they don’t go into any details about who this guy really is or where he’s from. He has just appeared in the film. I enjoyed the script, I really enjoyed Chad and I read it and I think it was originally conceived for an older actor. I was like, “Okay, that’s an interesting choice.” I just wanted to act with him because there’s no real back story and I can explore whatever I want with it. I had a lot of ideas about who he was and there were moments of weirdness, weirdness and deliciously sinister. I was like, “Well, he’s in Paris. He’s called the Marquis Vincent de Gramont. Is he French or is he from a French colony somewhere?” I mean, I just went with it and made it Chad really, really gave me the freedom to create this thing that’s in the movie I really enjoy that part of it The franchise is very stylized and Chad had a great idea It was such a pleasure to be a part of it.

MF: Finally, what was it like working with Keanu Reeves?
BS: I’ve been a fan of ‘The Matrix’ since I was eight years old when it first came out. It was truly an honor to be a part of his movies and his franchise and he couldn’t be a nicer guy. It was surreal playing opposite him, but just the nicest, sweetest guy and such a hard worker, and a really caring actor and a caring person. It was just a treat.
